17 December 2023

Pasay City – Airports operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) are now on heightened alert in anticipation of the expected increased volume of air passengers during the Christmas and New Year seasons.

Under the directives of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2023,” which is running from December 15, 2023 to January 3, 2024, added security measures and additional deployment of service and security personnel are now being observed in all 12 area centers handling CAAP airports accepting commercial flights to ensure safe, reliable, and convenient airport operations as returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), civilians, and tourists travel for the holiday season.

Concerned government agencies operating at the airports, including the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) and the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP), will also deploy personnel in areas of concern to ensure smooth passenger flow while strictly implementing security and public safety protocols.

Malasakit Help Desks stationed at passenger arrival and departure areas are also ready to provide travelers with assistance and immediate answers to the concerns of the riding public.

Additionally, travelers are reminded not to bring prohibited items to the airport and to stow all belongings in one’s carry-on baggage for faster processing at the screening checkpoints.

The CAAP has regularly prepared for the increase in passenger influx during the holiday season. On December 2022, CAAP airports welcomed over 2 million domestic and international passengers and a total of 20.5 million passengers for 2022.
