The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), together with the local government unit (LGU) of Pagadian City inspected the ongoing development project at Pagadian Airport today, 25 August 2023.
The “Pagadian Airport Development Project” is a 174 million Pesos project that involves the construction of the airport’s perimeter fence, fire truck access road, and runway strip grade correction. During the visit, the DOTr-CAAP and LGU officials also conducted an inspection of the runway’s serviceability as it is crucial to safe airport operations.
“As Pagadian City continues to grow as the regional center and capital of Zamboanga del Sur, the DOTr and CAAP see the potential of Pagadian Airport as a great driver to further boost socio-economic growth in the whole Zamboanga Peninsula region. By improving the facilities and capabilities of this airport, we are upgrading the ways Pagadian Airport may contribute to the progress of the region,” shared CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo.
The inspection was led by DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airport Roberto Lim, CAAP Director General Tamayo, Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co, Pagadian City Project Management Officer Lynette Peralta, CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas, CAAP Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) Assistant Director General II MGEN. Ricardo Banayat, AFP (Ret), DOTr Project Director Engr. Eduardo Mangalili, Representatives from the CAAP Aerodrome Development and Management Service (ADMS) and CAAP Area Center IX, as well as from the project contractor.
