Pasay City- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is gearing up for the surge of air travelers during the upcoming Holy Week.
The 44 CAAP operated airports are ready to implement Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Holy Week 2024 once activated by the Department of Transportation.
Recently, several airports conducted bomb simulations in preparation for the influx of travelers amidst the emergence of bomb jokes in airports.
Airport managers have been instructed to submit airport operations and communication plans to ensure a safe, reliable, and convenient system in CAAP airports during the period.
A “no leave policy” for employees will also be implemented to ensure proper service for the passengers returning to their provinces for reflection this Holy Week.
CAAP is expecting a 7 to 10 percent increase in the number of air travelers during the Lenten season due to the revenge travel following the pandemic.
Based on data from CAAP’s Aerodrome Development and Management Service, passenger movement from March to April 2023 reached 4.4 million, which is 1.2 million higher compared to the 3.1 million recorded during the same period in 2022. CAAP will not only monitor passengers returning to their provinces but also those returning to their jobs after the Holy Week.
