Pasay City- All 44 airports operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is now on heightened alert beginning today, March 24 to 31 for the Department of Transportation’s Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2024.

The CAAP directed all service chiefs and airport managers of CAAP operated airports to implement 24/7 operations, direct communication lines, and ‘no leave policy’ to ensure the safety, security, reliability, and comfort of the passengers.

To accommodate the influx of passengers, Malasakit help desks have been set up at the airports, and medical teams are on standby for emergencies.

CAAP, together with local authorities including PNP-Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU), Office of Transportation Security (OTS), Department of Tourism (DOT), Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), and airlines, have worked in coordination for efficient processing of passengers, especially at the check-in counters.

Based on the data from the Aerodrome Development and Management Service, CAAP recorded 3.1 million passengers from March to April 2022, while air travelers reached 4.4 million in the same period in 2023. This year, CAAP expects an increase of 7-10% in passenger movement during the Holy Week. Passengers are encouraged to plan their travel arrangements in advance for Holy Week 2024 and to arrive at the airport three hours before their flight.
