CAAP Press Release

26 April 2024

Tacloban – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Area VIII has issued a public notice regarding temporary operational hours at Tacloban Airport from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, effective from May 2 to August 2, 2024, due to scheduled maintenance repairs on the runway.

After the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) by the CAAP on April 24, 2024, measures are being taken to facilitate the runway scheduled maintenance, including asphalt overlay.

As a result, the airport’s original operating hours, from 4:30 in the morning to 8:30 in the evening, will be shortened. Sunrise-sunset operations will take place, while repairs will be carried out at night. This schedule allows ample time for the asphalt to cure before the first-morning flight traverses the runway. The repair is also being expedited in anticipation of the onset of the rainy season.

The NOTAM is effective for three months, but it can be promptly lifted if the runway repair is completed ahead of schedule.

Furthermore, the repair will impact a total of 12 flights to and from Manila daily, operated by three airlines.

Hence, the public is advised to coordinate with their respective airlines for further updates on their flights.
