The Philippines, through CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo, together with International Civil Aviation Organization Asia and Pacific (ICAO-APAC) Regional Office Director Mr. Tao Ma, presented the key outcomes of the 34th Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG) via virtual meeting yesterday, 15 May 2024.

This comes after the Philippines was elected as the chairman of the next APANPIRG meeting during its 34th assembly that was held at the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Headquarters Auditorium in Hong Kong, China, from 11 to 13 December 2023.

Apart from the key outcomes of the 34th APANPIRG, key APAC Priorities for 2024 in air navigation were also presented during the meeting.

Participants of the meeting included Mr. Junrong Liang, President of the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), Mr. Adel Alaufi, Chairman of the Strategic Review and Planning Working Group (SRP WG), Mr. Alain Vandenabeele, SRP Vice-Chair, members of the ANC, and ICAO officials.

The APANPIRG brings together officials from the ICAO as well as Directors General from the APAC Region to conduct a series of talks and meetings related to the region’s commitments to the 2018 Beijing Declaration, which involves aviation safety, the harmonization of air navigation services, the establishment of a separate accident investigation authority, and the development of human resources, as well as a performance framework for regional air navigation planning and implementation, among others.
