In his 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. underscored the noteworthy developments made in the country’s aviation infrastructure to address travelers’ rising demands for a more relaxed and efficient air travel experience.

Soaring to new heights, General Santos Airport (GSA) and Bicol International Airport (BIA) have been expanded to cater to more travelers and bigger aircraft.

GSA’s completed expansion project translates to catering to an astounding 2,000 passengers, ensuring a seamless travel experience for the growing number of passengers to and from Mindanao.

Meanwhile, with BIA’s opening, flying to the southernmost region of Luzon has become more convenient, providing passengers with the comfort that they deserve. BIA’s expansive terminal building lounge also attracted a wider variety of airport concessionaires, creating a vibrant selection of shopping and dining facilities for transiting passengers.

Since their inaugurations, the new and improved facilities at GSA and BIA have generated growth in trade, local tourism, and employment creation.

Fueled by this milestone, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) vows to amplify its efforts to deliver an on-time and strategic development plan that propels Philippine aviation forward.
