Pasay City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) engaged in its Third Coordination Meeting with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), specifically addressing the collaboration between CAAP Air Traffic Service (ATS) and Singapore Area Control Centers (ACC) yesterday, May 8.

CAAP warmly welcomed a delegation of seven representatives from Singapore, including the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Senior Chief, Magnus Teo, and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Centre Senior Chief, Yeo Khung Hui, along with officials from the Asia Pacific Regions who will be in the country until today, May 9.

The 2-day coordination meeting will focus on the enhancement of airspace capacity, efficiency, and safety by updating the Air Traffic Management Contingency routes structure between Manila and Singapore’s Flight Information Region (FIR) and discussing the seamless transfer of datalink at the common FIR through the application of Next Data Authority.

Moreover, the Letter of Agreement (LOA) between the Manila ACC and the Singapore ACC is set to be amended to incorporate new procedures which facilitates coordinated flight operations and to use certain spacing protocols.

Regular meetings between adjacent ACCs are convened annually or as required. The primary objectives of these meetings include enhancing cross-border coordination and air traffic control procedures, facilitating the implementation of Aviation System Block Upgrades (ASBU), and upholding the commitments outlined in the Beijing Declaration.

In his message, CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel L. Tamayo expressed gratitude for Singapore’s ongoing support to the Philippines, ”I express my sincere appreciation to CAA Singapore for their steadfast commitment to advancing aviation safety through their support of the ICAO’s No Country Left Behind initiative. We are looking forward to continued partnership with Singapore.”
