Lipa, Batangas- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Captain Manuel L. Tamayo emphasized the cooperation with the Philippine Air Force to further enhance flight safety standards of both agencies during the “Balik Fernando” Philippine Air Force Flying School Alumni Homecoming 2024 in Lipa, Batangas today, April 13, 202

During his speech as the guest of honor at this year’s Balik Fernando, he stated that while the PAF operates under a distinct mandate, the cooperation, and communication have been established between the two agencies due to the shared skies, same rules and regulations, and use of common facilities like airports and navigational aids.

“The PAF is a member of our State Safety Program steering committee. It is tasked with providing policy guidance and direction in managing national aviation safety risks. Through this collaborative effort, we have developed new safety policies and initiatives,” said CAAP Director General Capt. Tamayo.

Moreover, he proudly presented the CAAP’s ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing aviation safety. These include the continuous upgrading of Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management systems, along with the night-rating of airports to improve accessibility and safety.

Additionally, he invited the Air Force to the first-ever State Safety Summit of CAAP to be held later this year and to other aviation related events.

At the event, Philippine Air Force Commanding General Lt. Gen. Stephen Parreño formally introduced DG Capt. Tamayo as the distinguished guest of honor who graduated from the Philippine Air Force Flying School (PAFFS) in 1975. His trajectory from PAFFS has been marked by outstanding accomplishments in the military, commercial airline industry, and government service within the Department of Transportation.
