CAAP Press Release

04 March 2024

Pasay City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines commenced its month-long 16th Anniversary celebration with the distinguished presence of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Undersecretary Roberto Lim, and CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo on this day, March 4.

During the flag-raising ceremony, the Transportation Chief reflected on the creation of CAAP to address air safety regulatory shortcomings 16 years ago, soliciting inter-agency collaboration and a whole-of-government approach that helped bring the Philippines back to a Category 1 rating by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Secretary Bautista commended the CAAP for its significant strides and guided the agency’s future endeavors in the years ahead of its milestone. “Modernization and upgrade of our expanding number of airports need equal attention as upskilling of personnel tasked with oversight functions. The decoupling of CAAP’s regulator and operator roles may take more time than expected. I surely hope this happens before your 20th anniversary.”

Meanwhile, CAAP Director General Capt. Tamayo recognizes the invaluable role of women in CAAP with the observance of International Women’s Day this week.

Also, CAAP launched its Quality Policy and State Safety Policy to further advance its exceptional service.

Following the ceremony, the new admin office extension building was inaugurated within the authority’s compound. The month-long celebration of CAAP will be filled with different activities every Friday following its theme, “Happy Fun..Day…Shine!” to march forward toward Sustainability, Resiliency, and Inclusivity.
