Under the direction and guidance of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas joined and delivered the welcome remarks for the beginning of the 12th Regional Aviation Security Coordination Forum – Asia Pacific Regions (RASCF-APAC12) held today, 25 July 2024, at the Admiral Hotel MGallery Manila.

The two-day event aims to discuss the evolution of Aviation Security and Facilitation (AVSEC/FAL), including the ICAO updates relating to policy and amendments to Annex 17 (Aviation Security) and Guidance Material, the Universal Security Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA), New and Emerging Threats and Challenges for Aviation Security, updates on facilitation activities as 2024 has been designated as “The Year of Facilitation” by the ICAO, the Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP), the APAC Roadmap Implementation Status, and the implementation of capacity building support and regional partnership.

In his remarks, DDGA Lucas encouraged the discussions and expressed the Philippine transportation sector’s support for the initiatives to develop and improve aviation security within the APAC region.

The event, which is happening consecutively with the 19th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP-AP), is being hosted by the Philippines through the Office for Transportation Security and attended by ICAO representatives and aviation professionals from APAC states.
