Pasay City- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines operated airports and area centers actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, today, March 25.

CAAP personnel across the country including in Bicol International Airport Basco Airport, Palanan Airport, Bagabag Airport, Cauayan Airport, Tuguegarao Airport, San Jose Airport, Subic, Sangley Airport, Lubang Airport, Calapan Airport, Pinamalayan Airport, Marinduque Airport, Romblon Airport, Plaridel Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Kalibo Airport, Bacolod Airport, Roxas Airport, Caticlan Airport, Antique Airport, and CAAP Central performed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” in their respective offices during the first quarter’s NSED this year.

In addition to airport personnel, area centers collaborate with the PNP Aviation Security Unit, airlines, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive emergency measures including evacuation procedures and coordination with relevant offices during emergencies. CAAP is aligned with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in raising awareness and preparedness for earthquakes through quarterly NSED to train employees in the proper implementation of safety protocols during disasters and preparation for the possibility of a high-magnitude earthquake, also known as “The Big One.”
