The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, 19 June 2025, alongside other government agencies, as part of an initiative led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The participation follows the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Department of Transportation Secretary Vince B. Dizon to strengthen disaster preparedness measures in all transportation hubs, including airports, to minimize risks and ensure public safety during natural calamities such as earthquakes.
Personnel from the CAAP Central Office and several airports, including Bicol, Bohol-Panglao, Calapan, Catarman Airport, Catbalogan, Clark, Dipolog, General Santos, Guiuan, Iba, Iloilo, Jomalig, Lubang, Mactan, Marinduque, Masbate, Naga, Pagadian, Pinamalayan, Plaridel, Siquijor, Tacloban, Virac, and Zamboanga, took part in the drill, reinforcing their readiness and response capabilities in the event of a major earthquake.
CAAP implemented its emergency procedures and evacuation protocols during the drill, asserting its commitment to resilient and responsive operations across the aviation sector.
