Big improvements are underway at Laoag International Airport (LIA) as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) move ahead with significant upgrades that will transform air travel in Northern Luzon.

The developments include expanding the airport’s Passenger Terminal Building to enhance traveler comfort and accommodation and the upgrading of aircraft movement areas to welcome and allow the operation of wide-body aircraft like the Airbus A330. This will enable direct flight operations between routes such as Laoag to Honolulu and vice versa, as well as increase the airport’s potential to support other international flights.

These enhancements are part of DOTr-CAAP’s ongoing commitment to improve air connectivity throughout the Philippines, providing better travel options for both locals and tourists while strengthening our aviation infrastructure.
