The Philippines, represented by Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, was elected chairman of the 21st Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programme (COSCAP) South East Asia Steering Committee Meeting.
This marks the third in a row that the Philippines was given the important role of leading such a significant event, as the country is also set to be hosting and chairing the upcoming 35th Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG/35), and the 59th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA) in Cebu this October.
Director General Tamayo’s election comes after the nomination by Vietnam, which was seconded by Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
Proud to be serving in this capacity, Director General Tamayo, in his message, highlighted the work and contributions of the COSCAP-SEA and urged everyone to continue supporting its endeavors for a safe, resilient, and sustainable aviation community.
The Philippines’ election is a testament to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) and other states’ confidence in the country’s commitment to aviation safety and excellence and Captain Tamayo’s competence in the field of aviation regulation.
