Upon the instruction of Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, key officials from Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) including Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun G. Lucas and Area Center Manager Ronald Estabillo inspected the ongoing development projects at Laoag International Airport (LIA) on Friday, April 12, 2024.
The current development project at LIA covers the airport’s runway strip grade correction, expansion of turnaround pads, construction of access road going to control tower, development of VPA and drainage system.
The said projects, which started in June 2022, are currently at 76.29% completion as of last Friday, and are expected to finish by June this year.
The Laoag International Airport is the main airport serving the general area of Laoag, the capital city of the Ilocos Norte. Its continued development is geared towards CAAP’s goal of providing safer and efficient air travel, along with improved connectivity and mobility in the Ilocos Region.
