Clark, Pampanga — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) held its Approved Training Organization (ATO) Summit at Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga today, 20 May 2022.
The event was attended by Director General Captain Jim Sydiongco, Deputy Director General for Operations and Flight Service Inspectorate Service (FSIS) OIC Captain Donaldo Mendoza, Training Organizations Certification and Inspection Division (TOCID) OIC Captain Victor Aguilar, and Licensing and Certification Department (LCD) OIC Captain Huberto Ramos.
Speakers of the event included Flight Operations and Safety Inspector (FOSI) Captain Felipe Timola who served a lecture on Quality System, Pilot Examiner and Designated Operations Inspector Captain Geronimo Hernandez who delivered a lecture on Quality Management.
Following the lecture was a series of workshop and open forum, joined by a total of 75 attendees from aviation training organizations approved and accredited by CAAP.
“Let us train our students to be excellent and get the most out of their training. I encourage each one of you to maintain your inspiration and commitment to do better each day. Because the safety of our system in Philippine aviation depends on excellent training. It depends on each one of you.” DG Sydiongco stated on his message during the event.
DG Sydiongco further mentioned that it is important, now more than ever, for ATOs to maintain focused and grounded on training and developing the competencies of its students, and equipping them with the capacity to navigate through all kinds of thinkable conditions. Earlier this week, Director General Jim Sydiongco also participated in the Changi Aviation Summit (CAS) held in Singapore where ministers, civil aviation regulators, chief executives of airlines and other captains of the civil aviation industry from 45 countries gather to exchange views on key issues, such as recovery of the aviation sector from the COVID-19 pandemic, aviation sustainability, and the environment.
