Pasay City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) commemorates its 13th founding anniversary this month with the theme, “CAAP Steadfast@13: Flying High Above the New Normal Challenges for a Safe Philippine Sky,” simultaneously streamed at the CAAP’s official Facebook page.
Strictly observing the health protocols recommended by Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF-EID) for mass gatherings, CAAP commenced its celebration with a Thanksgiving Mass physically attended by the Authority’s management and selected personnel, followed by a video presentation of accomplishments and activities of its Area Centers
Joined the simple celebration held at the CAAP Covered Court were Director General Capt. Jim C. Sydiongco, Deputy Director General for Operations Capt. Donaldo A. Mendoza, Deputy Director General for Administration, Officer-in-charge BGen. John L. Estabillo, AFP (Ret.), DOTr Assistant Secretary for Aviation and Airports Jim Melo, ATS Chief Atty. Antonio G. Gonzales, ELS Chief Atty. Joseph Ray P. Gumabon, AFS Acting Chief BGen. Ernesto R. Milo AFP (Ret), CSIS Chief Col. Gil R. Maglaque, ADMS Chief Lt. Col. Valentino A. Dionela, and COA Supervising Auditor Atty. Elsa T. Baliña.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Area 1 Manager Ronald V. Estabillo, Area 3 Manager Glenn D. Tripulca, Area 4 and 6 Manager Efren N. Nagrama, Area 11 Manager Engr. Agnes B. Udang, and Area 10 Manager Engr. Job B. De Jesus, and other CAAP personnel virtually joined the celebration.
Further, as the Authority’s anniversary month coincides with National Women’s Month, CAAP also took the chance to greet and thank its women employees through a special message given by the CAAP Director General.
In its mission to make air transport more accessible and comfortable for Filipinos, the Authority was able to complete over a hundred projects during the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration, in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) – Aviation Project Development Unit.
In his message, Director General Sydiongco also expressed his gratitude to all CAAP personnel who continue to fight corruption, and ensure a safe, secure and efficient aviation service for the comfort and convenience of the flying public; citing that these are mandates given by President Duterte and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur P. Tugade.
Since becoming an independent regulatory body in 2008, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) unceasingly improves the country’s aviation sector by launching initiatives and projects that will develop the country’s aviation infrastructure, safety and overall performance.
On its thirteenth year, the CAAP looks forward to 2021 with a high note as it prepares for more project completions and inaugurations this year.
